being free isn’t just a holiday
A thread unravels from the edges of her old shirt in the dryer and winds tightly around the cuff of a stray sock, collecting bits of lint like a magnet. Cupping it in her hands, she decides it looks more like a ball of yarn she accidentally threw in the dryer than a...
bullying: living the Christian Life begins with us
According to the official definition at stopbullying.gov, “Bullying includes actions such as making threats, spreading rumors, attacking someone physically or verbally, and excluding someone from a group on purpose.” So why, as adults, do we teach our children the...
for when you think nail polish isn’t a good way to serve others
Here's a secret: I don't brush my hair. Recently, my family managed to lose every hairbrush in the house. It did not faze me. It's like saying we misplaced a screwdriver. Ah, well, sorry to hear that, but it doesn't impact me. Now, let's discuss my daughter. She's put...
for when the noise drowns you out and you make an idol of your writing [again]

I`m working on a brand new Bible study called "I Will, With God`s Help", and I`d love your help shaping it.
This study takes a deep dive into what it really means to be a Christian, exploring who God is and how our faith becomes a lived way of life. Week 1 is ready, and before I move forward, I`d love honest feedback from people across different backgrounds and denominations.
I`m using a tool called Help This Book, where you can read the draft of Week 1 and leave comments, questions, or suggestions right inside the document. Your input will help me refine the study and make it as meaningful and accessible as possible.

November 10th is a special day for me, and this year is a good one.
Today is the one year anniversary for my ordination to the Sacred Order of Deacons, and it`s the 250th birthday of the US Marine Corps.
As I write this, I realize how much both of those things have in common... both marked by the unparalleled heart to serve.
Today, I take pride in the fact that I`m part of both of these two great callings, and I`m honored and grateful to have the opportunity to serve in these ways.
Semper Fidelis.
Once a Marine, always a Marine.
Once a Deacon, always a Deacon.

When God calls, no two stories sound the same.
Some hear Him in the quiet.
Others in worship, or even in the middle of a storm.
Curious which calling story matches yours?

Had a great time this afternoon with the #EYCmountdora youth and others from around the @cfdiocese at @greatscottfarms for the Fall Festival and corn maze!
Sometimes it`s good to just get out in the fresh air on an awesome (Florida) Fall day and just have some fun.

"Avoid wrangling over words…" — Paul`s advice to Timothy sounds like it was written for social media in 2025. 📱
He reminds us that endless arguing does no good but only ruins those who are listening.
The call is clear: handle truth with integrity, not hostility.
Because our world doesn`t need more noise — it needs clarity, rooted in Christ. 🙏

Another Blessing of the Stage is in the books! 🙏
This is a really cool event that I get to help run a couple times per year at Mount Dora High School before their big productions.
I feed them chicken nuggies, then we grab candles and gather on the stage.
I shared with them the words of Saint Paul as he writes about how we are different members of one body. It`s this kind of community perspective that makes what they do special. When every member plays their part, it creates something magical!
Then I prayed a prayer for a theater performance with them, something that`s becoming a big part of this tradition.
And then the special part happened as they spoke words of truth and gratitude and blessing over one another as they sprinkled water all around the stage area and each other.
In the end, water everywhere (as if we baptized the stage)... everyone left with full heart and a reminder that they are all important parts of something much bigger than themselves.
These youth inspire me so much, and I`ll continue be there for them and pray for them as they perform and discover who they were created to be.
Amen.

God`s grace isn`t stopped by exile, hardship, or division. 🌿
It goes before us into the hard places… and follows after to redeem what we offer in faith.
"No exile, no prison, no cultural storm can ever chain the Word of God or silence His grace." 🙌

I`ve heard that early Christians sometimes used the bee as an emblem of Christ, with the sweetness of honey representing forgiveness and the sting representing justice.
The hive also represents the Church as a community working together for the common good, with every member having a purpose.
And I love seeing these guys flying around the flowers in my backyard!

A Message From Dan
What does it look like to live a Christian life? Like, TRULY live a Christian life? If I’m honest, I’m over the fake front of being a happy, blessed, and perfect person in order to impress others. Truth is, I’m a sinner who’s just trying to figure out how to do this without looking like an absolute fool. I think the Christian life is about admitting our brokenness, while raising our hand to say,”Here I am Lord! What would You have me do?” And that’s what this blog is all about… just a dude trying to do the best I can, and maybe hoping that you’re stumbling through the same journey. Maybe we can walk together.
Rev. Dan King
