ancient church rhythms for mental health and peace
Let me start by throwing a few numbers at you. About 1 in 4 adults in the United States experience some level of mental illness each year, with approximately 13 million people reporting to have seriously considered suicide. And to make it worse, there's a great deal...
reflections on the catechism: the old covenant
In the Catechism (the Outline of the Faith) in the Book of Common Prayer, the third section of questions is about The Old Covenant. This follows the first section of the Catechism that explores God the Father. The Old Testament is full of messiness and leaves readers...
it is finished: a reflection from Jesus’ seven last words
On Good Friday each year, my church does a special service after the Good Friday liturgy call The Seven Last Words. During this time, people from the church share a sort of devotional reflection on the last seven things that Jesus said before dying on the Cross. This...
engaging youth in the stations of the cross this lent
In the last few years since I've been in the Episcopal Church, I've discovered incredible significance and richness in the season of Lent. It's just not something that we've really practiced in my previous non-denominational church experience. And one of the elements...

The blue birds are nesting in our backyard bird house again!
It`s one of my favorite things to see every Spring as everything starts blooming, we hear the chirps of all the birds, and the butterflies start fluttering around again.
It renews a sense of hope and promise in me. So I`m grateful for these little things.

Examen Prayer is a centuries-old form of daily prayer developed by St. Ignatius of Loyola. It guides you through reflection on what`s happened in the last day and looking forward to what`s ahead in the next day.
We did a study on this prayer form with our @stedwardsepiscopal youth, and developed this poster as a guide to hang on your wall to help you remember the steps as you pray.
And this poster is available for purchase in our NEW online merch store (LINK IN BIO)... and a portion of the proceeds helps our fundraising that sends youth to bible camps and mission trip experiences.

"Whoever receives one child in My name receives Me." — Mark 9:37
In our midweek Eucharist, we reflected on this profound teaching of Jesus and the life of Harriet Starr Cannon, a pioneer of compassion in the Anglican tradition.
Harriet`s legacy reminds us that true greatness lies in humble service. She embraced the sick and the marginalized, embodying Christ`s call to welcome the least among us.
Let us be inspired to open our hearts to those in need, seeing Christ in every face.

"The tree doesn`t exist without the soil. We don`t exist without Christ." 🌳✝️
We often look for spiritual growth in all the wrong places—programs, productivity, flashy experiences. But what if the real growth happens beneath the surface?
In Matthew 13, Jesus talks about seeds and soil. And in real life, it`s the topsoil—quiet, dark, and often overlooked—that makes growth possible.
💬 The same is true with Jesus. He may not always be flashy or loud, but He is the rich, nourishing presence we`re meant to be rooted in.
Without soil, a tree can`t stand. Without Christ, neither can we.
📖 Dive deeper into this reflection on spiritual grounding in my latest post.

I love having the chance to get #DubuGrey out into her natural habitat. Ocala National Forest is so full of beautiful spots like this to get some fresh air and enjoy nature.
Definitely feeling the need to do this more often.

Habits... I just hit a big milestone, reading for 1,000 consecutive days! I read books on my Kindle (and Kindle app on my phone), and I love that it tracks this... it`s a milestone I`ve had my eye on for a long time.
I was close before, but missed it. I got to 750 and then missed two days while on a mission trip experience with our youth group. So had to start over at 0.
What I like most isn`t the number, but what I`ve gotten out of everything I`ve read. I`ve learned so much, and have been inspired creatively through those books. (If you want to see what I`m reading, hit me up on Goodreads... DM me if you need a link.)
I don`t know what number I`ll hit before I miss another day, but I`m going to keep going because I love what it does for my mind and my soul!

Happy Easter from #kingpartyof7 (with one not in the pic)!
I love our tradition of the flowering 💐 of the Cross at @stedwardsepiscopal. We brought some flowers from our own garden to add.
Mostly, I`m grateful for a Savior who picked me up, rescued me, and gave me a purpose.
I`m also grateful for my crazy family, good friends, and a beautiful church community that gives me the opportunity to serve and bring God glory.

A Message From Dan
What does it look like to live a Christian life? Like, TRULY live a Christian life? If I’m honest, I’m over the fake front of being a happy, blessed, and perfect person in order to impress others. Truth is, I’m a sinner who’s just trying to figure out how to do this without looking like an absolute fool. I think the Christian life is about admitting our brokenness, while raising our hand to say,”Here I am Lord! What would You have me do?” And that’s what this blog is all about… just a dude trying to do the best I can, and maybe hoping that you’re stumbling through the same journey. Maybe we can walk together.
