As Christians if we are serious about putting our faith into action, knowing that it is what God’s heart is, then we must take an honest look at the world around us.

I was recently talking to some friends from Zimbabwe, and I was shocked at some of the things that they shared with me. For example, they say that unemployment is 90-95%. Something like this is simply hard for me to even imagine! Here in the U.S. we are complaining about how bad the economy and job market are, but isn’t our unemployment rate something like 5%? Just imagine that only the number of people that are currently unemployed in the U.S. are the only ones that have jobs! In a church of 500 people (including the kids), only 10-20 of them might have jobs. Situations like this are difficult for us to truly understand, which is why we need to evaluate where our brothers and sisters are living around the world.

During our recent get uncomfortable event, my friend Jimmy Sanders had the opportunity to deliver this message. And in watching this, you will see just how much his own study on this topic affected him. Once he discovered the reality of the condition of the world, he was moved in such a way that I believe he will never be the same again. The amazing thing about this topic is that the need is literally everywhere. Since this event, Jimmy and several others have been moved with compassion for many people in our own community that go to sleep hungry every night. And they have committed to making a difference.
