The other Saturday I was making a pizza delivery like I do almost every Saturday. For whatever reason, we had more delivery orders than normal.
I was in a hurry.
I had three orders to deliver and I knew I had at least two more when I got back to the pizzeria.
I went to the first house, knocked on the door, and waited for the customer to open it.
It took a little while.
She opened the door and apologized that it took her a bit longer to come down the stairs.
I handed her the ticket to sign and gave her the food.
When she handed me the ticket back I noticed she left the tip line blank.
However, the next thing I saw was cash in her hand – Yes!
Before she handed me the cash, she told me, “I don’t usually tip this much, but I was in prayer and I believe the Lord told me to give this to you.”
“Wow!” I thought. Without looking at how much it was I told her, “Thank you very much… God bless.”
As I headed back to my car I counted the cash.
$12 was the tip. The order was only for $20. That is a 60% tip.
I gave the Lord thanks and asked Him to bless her for her obedience to Him.
I was blessed.
I have not knowingly found myself being on that side of a blessing from a stranger before.
It was pretty neat.
So what about you – any stories to share?
Have you been blessed by a stranger before?
Have you blessed a stranger before?
As I was starting seminary, I received a check from my mother for $100.00. She included a note much like listed above, “I don’t know why, but I felt led to send this to you.” I sent her a note thanking her for the check and that I had just started seminary and was $100 short of full tuition payment.
Thanks for sharing. Way to go Mom and God!
I was having a terrible day waitressing. We were busy, people were cranky, and I accidentally spilled HOT coffee on someone! A regular customer came in with his grandson – who was close to my age – that I’d never seen before. I waited on them as normal, and when I was cleaning their table, I noticed $5 and a note that said, “Give this to the girl in the green shirt. She made my day.” and just about cried. It was a great boost I needed through a rough day from a total stranger.
Thanks for sharing your story Gina!!
