a prayer for businesses in your community

I was recently asked to pray at the opening of a Board of Directors meeting for my local Chamber of Commerce. It was my first meeting as a board member, which was also the first meeting for the new president for the organization. I was the one asked to pray because...

JUST LAUNCHED! I've just released a new 5-week small group study on the five commitments in the Baptismal Covenant. You can get it at...

bibledude.gumroad.com (or link in bio)

It's a study that I put together and conducted with the youth at @stedwardsepiscopal, but it's not just for youth, and it's not just for #episcopalian churches.

The study dives into five key areas of what the Christian life should look like.

Check it out!

"And we live in a broken world. It might not look and feel exactly like it did for the people living in the Babylonian Captivity 2600 years ago. But it’s not a stretch for us to look at the world we live in and feel like something’s off; like we’re displaced from the way things should be."

Hope... it changes things.

My sermon for Advent One focuses on the hope we have in Christ, based on a promise the Lord made to execute justice and righteousness in the land.

It's Christmas tree time! And I always love hanging my favorite ornaments... a pair of hand-carved turtle doves made in Rwanda. A gift from a friend I went on a mission trip with to Uganda and Rwanda.

I love them because of how they symbolize love and strong commitment... something that reminds me of the love of Christ.

I'm embracing my new role as an ordained minister, and it starts at home, folks!

Family is my first and most important ministry. So it makes sense that they would get a dose of my ministering skills as I take on my new role as the Reverend Deacon Dan. That means random, spontaneous prayer sessions to ensure that we're regularly connecting with God in our lives.

Man... just wait until I get to church! This is gonna be awesome!

NOTE: No children were harmed in this prayer time. But she did get an extra dose of the Holy Spirit!

Scenes from The Magician's Nephew... The Wood Between the Worlds.

We're having a blast in our Wednesday night youth and kids program! Each week we're reading through a chapter or two at a time through the Chronicles of Narnia books. And along the way, we're doing different crafty/hands-on activities.

This week we were building places we've encountered so far in The Magician's Nephew. And everyone was getting creative building Uncle Andrew's office, the wood between the worlds, and the city of Charn.

I love that the kids are all having fun experiencing such great stories!

A Message From Dan

What does it look like to live a Christian life? Like, TRULY live a Christian life? If I’m honest, I’m over the fake front of being a happy, blessed, and perfect person in order to impress others. Truth is, I’m a sinner who’s just trying to figure out how to do this without looking like an absolute fool. I think the Christian life is about admitting our brokenness, while raising our hand to say,”Here I am Lord! What would You have me do?” And that’s what this blog is all about… just a dude trying to do the best I can, and maybe hoping that you’re stumbling through the same journey. Maybe we can walk together.
