My maiden name is McCracken, Scottish, and my dream is to visit one day to Scotland, I love old churches. What a great pic. Happy WW!
Cool shot. Nice reflection.

I am Scottish, I have visited this church many times. In 1845 about 500 people were thrown out of their homes, in the Highland Clearances and some 90 with no other family were utterly homeless and had nowhere to go but this kirk. Destitute and in despair they squatted there for a while until they were moved on, scattered. Some could write and they scratched the saddest messages into the glass of this kirk.
Doubtless the words of the minister rang still in their ears as they gently starved, the mothers wept, the children grew sick and died: The Lord himself goes before you and will be with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged.
Abandoned by man and by God, nothing but death, despair to be found in the quiet, dappled kirk of Croick
