castroThis is a special music monday! That’s because in addition to the song itself, I have to opportunity to share the testimony of the artist! And, in ‘honor’ of American Idol starting its new season this week, I thought that it would be appropriate to share an American Idol performance from last season.

Jason Castro was one of the favorites of my wife and I simply because we loved his style. And we wondered regularly throughout the season whether he was a Christian or not. For me personally, he had one performance that really launched him well into the finals, and that was his performance during 80’s week of the Leonard Cohen song “Hallelujah”. Check out that performance now…

I was also recently made aware of an amazing website called “i am second” that has a video of his testimony (and those of several other poeple), and I would be lying if I said anything short of it being amazing! I really encourage you to check out his testimony as well as some of the others on the site…

i am second (jason castro)

Enjoy!

i enjoyed reading this but i must say that it was obvious from the beginning for me that he walks with Jesus.
to kristabelieves below. you probably will start seeing a lot more of this on AI now that Jason has proven that doing so is quite okay. AI will use any and all means to stay on top. Jason is genuine, Ai on the other hand will use God , religion whatever for the buck it will generate.

You are absolutely right Elaine! I have seen a trend towards secular media becoming more 'tolerant' towards things like this because they have proven that they SELL… The good news is that it helps to get the Good News out there. I think that ultimately it sheds a very positive light on Christianity, and I honestly hope that I see more… even if the media is only trying to profit from it…

    Thanks for sharing!

Elaine…You are so right about noticing that from the beginning. When someone has a genuine relaitonship with Christ it can't be hidden no matter what editing tries to hide. Dan and I also assumed he was a believer from the beginning…it is so nice to actually see it announced and not hidden. I was heartbroken when he was voted off…he was my personal favorite of that seaon. Oh well…God still has amazing plans for him and it might just be for the better. 😀

Thanks for the link, although the video kept on hanging for some reason. Of all the contestants that season, it was Jason Castro who had a certain aura about him. This explains why.

VERY encouraging and sad that there was not more info on who is a Christian on the idol show. GREAT job finding this.
