untidy conclusions and the messy middle place

untidy conclusions and the messy middle place

The first morning of the Great Darkness, I slid out the back door into deafening silence. The door shuddered down the track and then glided closed again with a groan. I reached up, up - stretching my leg muscles with tip-toed feet in worn sneakers - then down past my...

God’s Word…

One Friday night when I was 18, a friend and I left to do one of those college visits, the ones to see if you want to spend huge sums of money on over four years, and most likely the twenty years following also.  I had a soccer game that night, so we embarked on our,...

I love the morning drive when I take my son to school. Well, most of it. We don't always talk much. But we pray together every morning when we get close to the school. That's my favorite time, as I lift him up to the Lord, ask for protection, and that He grant him...

Just a little preview into my sermon tomorrow at @stedwardsepiscopal (8am and 10am).

This line just keeps hanging there in my heart.

Can't wait to preach it!
It's just one of those top-open kind of days on the way home from church today.

Sun shining.
Cool temps.
Radio on full blast.

By the end of the Blessing of the Stage, the floor is always covered in water - baptizing the space where these students will spend the next week telling stories.

Today we talked about truth-telling as sacred work. About how theater, at its best, reveals what's real about being human. About how every role matters - on stage and backstage.

Grateful to be part of this tradition with Mount Dora High School's Tempest Theater.

This might just be my new profile pic! LOL!

I made this as part of a white elephant gift for our youth group Christmas party, and I'm still laughing!

BTW... it looks amazing in a frame... I have a feeling we might see it hanging in our youth house at the church. 🤣
Yep, so my neighbor across the street went with the 6-7 decoration... 🫤

I'm working on a brand new Bible study called "I Will, With God's Help", and I'd love your help shaping it.

This study takes a deep dive into what it really means to be a Christian, exploring who God is and how our faith becomes a lived way of life. Week 1 is ready, and before I move forward, I'd love honest feedback from people across different backgrounds and denominations.

I'm using a tool called Help This Book, where you can read the draft of Week 1 and leave comments, questions, or suggestions right inside the document. Your input will help me refine the study and make it as meaningful and accessible as possible.

Thanks in advance to anyone who jumps in to help. Your perspective will make this project so much stronger.

A Message From Dan

What does it look like to live a Christian life? Like, TRULY live a Christian life? If I’m honest, I’m over the fake front of being a happy, blessed, and perfect person in order to impress others. Truth is, I’m a sinner who’s just trying to figure out how to do this without looking like an absolute fool. I think the Christian life is about admitting our brokenness, while raising our hand to say,”Here I am Lord! What would You have me do?” And that’s what this blog is all about… just a dude trying to do the best I can, and maybe hoping that you’re stumbling through the same journey. Maybe we can walk together.
