complete guide to the 3 types of bible translations

Editorial Note: This post is part of how to study the Bible (the complete series). One question I get more often than any other is, “Which of the Bible translations is the right one?” I’ll share my response to that question a little later. In order to get to the...

how to be life-giving through gifts-based ministry

Note: The article Life-Giving through Gifts-Based Ministry was originally written for a series called "What My Church Does Well" for The High Calling (now at Theology of Work Project). Today, I’m excited about serving at my church. But it wasn’t always that way. My...

"We are here to speak truth and hope and life to people. And that message is going to counter what our culture would let us believe."

From my latest sermon, so I have sent them: a sermon on a reading from john 17 (link in bio).

"We can have no greater calling than to be messengers of truth and love and hope and healing in this broken and hurting world."

New #sermon from @stthomaseustis now posted on the blog (link in bio).

I've been working in some updates to the website! It seemed appropriate since I've been getting back to writing more often again!

I think I'm digging the fresh look. What do you think?
Love me a good motivational poster. 😉
To the Chief Musician: with stringed instruments. A Psalm of David.

My sermon from today at @stthomaseustis is now available on my blog (🔗 link in bio).

"We have reason to celebrate as we remember the day that Jesus beat death and secured salvation for all who would believe. But if we're honest with ourselves, sometimes we have days when it doesn't really feel like it."

Peak of the #partialeclipse from Central Florida. Definitely a shift in the brightness and vibe outside. It's cool that while the direct shot of the Sun still feels pretty full, that we get that little reflection/shadow of it in the camera lens that shows the coverage.

It looks like where we live will be in the path of totality for an eclipse in August 2045! Just for the record... party at my house that day!
I got to preach today to my fellow diaconate students (now available on the blog, link in bio) today...

My prayer is that I'm able to follow in the footsteps of guys like Peter and John (see Acts 4), Luke the Evangelist, and @tobymac as I, "cannot help but to speak about what I have seen and heard," with great boldness.

P.S. I love the light from the stained glass on the wall over the altar behind me!

A Message From Dan

What does it look like to live a Christian life? Like, TRULY live a Christian life? If I’m honest, I’m over the fake front of being a happy, blessed, and perfect person in order to impress others. Truth is, I’m a sinner who’s just trying to figure out how to do this without looking like an absolute fool. I think the Christian life is about admitting our brokenness, while raising our hand to say,”Here I am Lord! What would You have me do?” And that’s what this blog is all about… just a dude trying to do the best I can, and maybe hoping that you’re stumbling through the same journey. Maybe we can walk together.
