kitchen chair, transition

Today I’m thinking of my friends in transition.

Because sometimes I think God waits in places that smell of bleach and Hamburger Helper. Places that house women without a place of their own who wear red, fuzzy slippers and children who sport sleeveless pajamas in the winter.

Beyond banging doors and crackly announcements, God sits in an uncomfortable kitchen chair that rocks but isn’t supposed to, and He nods.

He sees dreadlocks and hears pleas of those working to discover what “better” looks like.

As prayers for new beginnings are hurled into the air, God marvels at the change, not in circumstances, but in hearts.

Will you join me in praying for my friends in transition?

What verses provide comfort for you in uncertain times?

A verse that I have been hanging my hat on the past few months is Psalms 136:4 (NLT): “Give thanks to Him who alone does mighty miracles. His faithful love endures forever.” — It reminds me that God is in control, and I need not worry.

I like this, Amy. You paint enough details that I don’t need the whole story spelled out, and you use them in such a way that I’m encouraged to act. I’ll pray for folks in transition today.
