church-whispererOne of the saddest things that happens in the church is a split. Too often, church splits are not caused because of great growth (which would be a good thing), but because people could not get along or agree with each other (which is a bad thing). I think that it’s important for people to be able to express themselves, and that each person has a right to their own opinion. But I cannot help but to wonder what Jesus would think of this kind of activity after He taught us how the world would know that we are different (by the love we have for one another).

And it is this idea that seems to drive Blake Coffee to do what he does on his blog The Church Whisperer. Blake is a church mediator, practicing attorney, ministry leader, and author. His blog features some amazing posts that are not only relevant to churches in crisis, but also to the rest of us who hate to see stuff like that happen!

Blake has a wisdom that we can all glean from, as well as a style that keeps the content interesting. I also love that he ‘remixes’ some of his older content to keep it relevant, fresh, and in front of people.

At first glance, one might think that his blog is only appropriate if you are a pastor or other church leader. I don’t believe that this is the case. I believe that if more people read and discuss the things that Blake is talking about on his blog, then churches would have far fewer problems.

The goal of the church should be to present itself as the beautiful bride of Christ. If you’ve ever been to a wedding, then you know that the entrance of the bride not only pleases the groom, but also all of those in attendance watching her. And this is why I read The Church Whisperer, and consider it among my all time favorite blogs!

Oh… and Blake’s blog is another one from the HighCallingBlogs.com network. You can find him listed there in the Faith section.
