This could be really fun!

And educational.

And life-transforming.

I love to study the Bible. I mean I really love to study the Bible. The only thing that I love more is studying the Bible with other people. And that’s why I’m really excited about trying something out!

Honestly, I’m really not sure how this thing will go. It may flop miserably, but I want to give it a shot anyway. I want to do an online Bible study, and I think I found the perfect app to give it a try.

Bible.is

The Bible.is Bible app is a cool (free) tool for Android, iPhone/iPad, and Facebook. It’s an app that you can use to read AND listen to the Bible, and the audio is even the cool, professionally done stuff (not that robotic text-to-speech audio).

Since the mobile and Facebook apps are not fully integrated with each other (yet), I’ll be focusing on doing the study in Facebook. What’s really cool about the Facebook app is…

  • We can all work on the same reading/listening plan together
  • You can leave comments in the online group as a means of discussing what we’re studying
  • You’ll also be able to see/learn from comments from other people in our study group
  • You can share important verses/passages on your wall in about two clicks
  • Anyone can join us!

I thought that it’d be cool to start with a 61 Day Chronological Bible Survey. We’ll begin on Sunday, September 19th. This is how Bible.is describes this program:

Read and listen to key stories and truths from both the Old and New Testament in the order they happened. Get an unparalleled window into the truth of Scripture in just a few chapters a day.

Cool, huh?

If you’re interested, then here’s how it’ll work:

  1. Go to the Bible.is group on Facebook: BibleDude.net Online Bible Study
  2. Click on ‘Join this Group’ (big green button)
  3. (Optional) Use the ‘Invite Your Friend’ link to ask other to join us
  4. Read/listen and comment

Go ahead and get started on it right away. It’s open now for you to begin the plan and leave comments.

Feel free to share things that impact you, ask questions, and even get critical. I’d love nothing more than to see some real wrestling with the meaning/intent of the Scriptures, because I think that’s where we’ll experience the most growth.

I just pray that God uses all of us to help all of us to grow in His Word. May the Lord bless this time, and may it be a pleasing act of worship that honors and glorifies Him. I pray a blessing over everyone who takes the time to devote themselves to His Word whether it’s here in this group, or in their own personal studies. Guide us in Your Truth, Lord. In Jesus’ Name. Amen.

I look forward to interacting with you throughout this study!

Truth be told… @bibleis did the cool part by developing the Facebook app that allows us to do this. And it’s something that I would probably enjoy doing even by myself. But it’s just WAY cool to be able to do something like this with other people who are so geographically dispersed. Should be fun!

I love doing a Bible study like this even by myself. But it’s REALLY cool that we can all do it together… in our own space, on our own schedule. I really look forward to interacting with everyone’s comments in the study! Should be cool! Thanks for joining!

I’m really enjoying this Bible study right now! so far it seems to be an interesting chronological survey, but it’s really cool to get the thoughts of others on the passages! It allows me to see perspectives and thoughts that I wouldn’t have had on my own.

Thanks for joining it Crystal! You rock dude!
