In a great book that I’ve been reading recently, I am constantly reminded that we serve the most Creative Being in the universe. Keeping this in mind, I want to provide opportunities here for people to express their creativity. So I would like to open this site up for submissions of creative writing.

CreativeWritingSo here’s your chance to share something that God has been putting on your heart! This is also an opportunity to stretch yourself and express some creativity that you may not have known that you had (and you do have it)! Submissions will be taken here for any form of creative writing that you would like to share…

  • Short story
  • Poetry
  • Playwriting/Dramatic writing
  • Memoir
  • Creative non-fiction
  • Flash fiction
  • Photo journaling

In honor of the upcoming Idea Camp conference on Compassion and Justice…   through the month of July I will be accepting submissions on the topic of compassion. You can write whatever you would like, but just on the topic of compassion. What does compassion look like to you? What does it sound like? What does it smell and feel like?

Use any of the listed forms of creative writing (or photo journaling) to share what you want to on this topic, and email your submissions to dan@bibledude.net. Submissions on the topic of compassion will be accepted through the end of July, and will be posted right here on bibledude.net. Please include a short (2-3 sentence) bio that includes links to your website/blog (if you have one) and other social networking profiles (Twitter, etc.).

One lucky submission will be selected to receive a FREE copy of Finding the Groove:  Composing a Jazz-Shaped Faith by Robert Gelinas (a.k.a. the Jazz Theologian). The winner will be selected on a mysterious combination of quality of content, feedback (via comments) submitted by readers, and maybe some other factors that I have not determined yet. But regardless, you cannot win the book if you don’t submit something!

Let me know if you have any questions… otherwise, I look forward to seeing what God puts on your heart!

This was a tough one, but the winner in this creative writing challenge on compassion is… “love's final request” by Lucy Sizemore. All of these posts have been amazing! So thank you to everyone who had submitted an entry! I think that together they paint an amazing picture of compassion!

I'm lovin' being connected with what you're doing…. I absolutely agree with you 100% when you say, ” we serve the most Creative Being in the universe.” I believe it's a matter of just trying…. trying to be creative, and a matter of trusting… because, if we are created in HIS IMAGE, we are created to BE CREATIVE! When people marvel at my creativity I tell them I don't think it's that unusual of a thing… it's what we're all supposed to be, because of who we are in HIM!”
I created something that I'd like to submit… did it for my sis… but I think it fits in with what you're describing. So expect a very large attachment to an email right quick!
