Have you ever doubted God?

I know. That’s a loaded question, right? I know that I can say that I’ve struggled from time to time with my doubts. And if you’re completely honest about it, then you probably have at some point in your walk with Christ too. Most of us have our doubts, but few of us are willing to actually talk about them.

Why is that?

Do we feel like that if we doubt God that we’re somehow walking away from our salvation in Him? Or maybe we feel like we’re supposed to be strong and suck it up and put on this show like we have it all together.

I sometimes wonder if guys like Abraham, the father of faith, ever doubted. I imagine that when he got the instruction to go sacrifice his son Issac that he must’ve doubted God, even if just for a moment. Wouldn’t you?

I wonder if it’s not as important that we doubt God (because we most likely will), but what we do with that doubt. Doubt can be an important part of having faith. Do you agree?

The book

Writer/speaker Jason Boyett recently released a book about this topic called O me of little faith: True Confessions of a Spiritual Weakling. In this book Boyett shares the stories about his doubts, and explores things like how we doubt, why we doubt, and what to do about it.

i can so relate!!! i'm going through a time of waiting on God right now…and it's hard to not doubt. i know He hears me when i pray and i know He sees me…but that doesn't make the waiting any easier. the book sounds like a good one!!

I think that lots of people have struggled with doubting God, which is why I'm really looking forward to seeing these video 'testimonies'!

First of all, the cover of this book absolutely cracks me up!

I think we can ALL relate to times of doubt, Dan. For me, doubt hits hard when the circumstances I'm walking through completely contradict the promise God has give me. It's HARD to walk by faith and not by sight. It's hard not to be swayed by our circumstances. It's a wrestling match sometimes, isn't it?

Wow… that's a great point! Doubt does seem to hit the hardest when circumstances contradict God's promises. I know that we've walked through that quite a bit in our family as well, and that has been a tension point in our relationship with God. I'll be talking about that in the vlog that I post for this project pretty soon…

About halfway through this book…wow, it really hits home in some parts. I'm glad there's someone out there being honest about his faith and writing a book about his struggles. Well, since i already own the book i'll let the chance of owning a signed copy go to someone else. =)

Totally agree dude… That kind of honest can be pretty powerful. That's exactly why I wanted to do this vlog project, so that other people can have a chance to share their stories. Thanks for popping by and sharing your thoughts on the book! It's great to hear that it's resonating!
