when you’re worried about your appearance

when you’re worried about your appearance

I’m pretty sure my wedding dress is still in there--though I can’t be totally sure since I haven’t opened that box since the cleaners sealed it in 1971. They buried my husband’s grandmother in hers. If I passed on today, there’s not a chance they’d be able to...

I sit in quiet and wait. Though I've been nagging God for answers and insight, He remains silent on a particular issue I keep bringing before Him. I'm puzzling over the questions I'm asking--are they the right ones?  Is my focus in the wrong place? Maybe. And some...

"The tree doesn't exist without the soil. We don't exist without Christ." 🌳✝️

We often look for spiritual growth in all the wrong places—programs, productivity, flashy experiences. But what if the real growth happens beneath the surface?

In Matthew 13, Jesus talks about seeds and soil. And in real life, it's the topsoil—quiet, dark, and often overlooked—that makes growth possible.

💬 The same is true with Jesus. He may not always be flashy or loud, but He is the rich, nourishing presence we're meant to be rooted in.
Without soil, a tree can't stand. Without Christ, neither can we.

📖 Dive deeper into this reflection on spiritual grounding in my latest post.

I love having the chance to get #DubuGrey out into her natural habitat. Ocala National Forest is so full of beautiful spots like this to get some fresh air and enjoy nature.

Definitely feeling the need to do this more often.

Habits... I just hit a big milestone, reading for 1,000 consecutive days! I read books on my Kindle (and Kindle app on my phone), and I love that it tracks this... it's a milestone I've had my eye on for a long time.

I was close before, but missed it. I got to 750 and then missed two days while on a mission trip experience with our youth group. So had to start over at 0.

What I like most isn't the number, but what I've gotten out of everything I've read. I've learned so much, and have been inspired creatively through those books. (If you want to see what I'm reading, hit me up on Goodreads... DM me if you need a link.)

I don't know what number I'll hit before I miss another day, but I'm going to keep going because I love what it does for my mind and my soul!

Feelin' that Palm Sunday altar...

And it makes me think about this Sunday we shout "Hosanna," and next Sunday we proclaim "He is risen!" But all of the days in between are filled with such an intense roller coaster ride of events and emotions.

Holy Week has become so much more meaningful to me since I've been in the Episcopal Church, and I look forward to each of the services I get to participate in on this crazy journey.

Grateful for a great clergy gathering in @cfdiocese with a fantastic talk from the Rev Dr R Michael Allen on "wholeness."

"If you want to be Christ-centered, you had better pay attention to the whole Christ. To the extent you narrow your Christ, you'll set yourself and your church up for a search for supplements and substitutes."

Feeling equipped and refreshed... and thankful for such great leadership that puts together events like this for us.

A Message From Dan

What does it look like to live a Christian life? Like, TRULY live a Christian life? If I’m honest, I’m over the fake front of being a happy, blessed, and perfect person in order to impress others. Truth is, I’m a sinner who’s just trying to figure out how to do this without looking like an absolute fool. I think the Christian life is about admitting our brokenness, while raising our hand to say,”Here I am Lord! What would You have me do?” And that’s what this blog is all about… just a dude trying to do the best I can, and maybe hoping that you’re stumbling through the same journey. Maybe we can walk together.
