I love finding ways to stretch myself as a blogger.

Especially when it forces me to engage in very real and relevant conversations. So I wanted to try something new, and would like to invite other bloggers to try this activity out with me.

This should be a fairly simple challenge. But by definition it’s meant to, well, umm…   challenge you.

Here’s how it works:

  1. Pick a topic from the top 20 Hot Searches list at Google Trends.
  2. Write a post at your blog not to exceed 250 words (deadline: Sunday, 10/17).
  3. Share the link to your post below using the Simply Linked widget.
  4. Leave a comment here about what you learned most from this challenge.

I’ll even select one lucky person who completes this challenge to win a FREE book (winner’s choice from a selection, courtesy of my friends at IVP).

Ready, set, blog…

Def didn’t think that would be anywhere near as difficult as it turned out to be. If only because that was the only thing on the Google trend that really struck a chord with me. Awesome challenge Dan, I’ll probably be doing that more often.

This is definitely a cool project, and I’m enjoying the posts coming in so far. I think what makes it interesting is how it forces you to think about VERY current issues through our Biblical world view, and then process that into a conversation.

I might have to do this on a regular basis! I think it’s fun to do by myself, but REALLY interesting to see what others come up with while going through similar thought processes. And it certainly helps all of us to develop as bloggers!

Dude… your name was randomly selected from the people entered here as the winner of the book. I’ll email you about which of the books you want, and how I can get it to you. Congrats!

This was a cool exercise, because I just learned something about Sweetest Day. It’s something that I’d like to try to celebrate in it’s original intent!

I’m glad that you like the exercise! I’m thinking about making it a regular feature here so that people can submit and share their links every week. The posts are really exciting to see! Thanks for participating Amber! It’s great to hear from you again!

I love the creative process involved with looking at something like a Google Trends list and trying to come up with something to write that my audience would be interested in reading. It helps me to keep what I do focused on what’s current and relevant.

I’m glad you enjoyed it Chris! You rock dude!

Dang Dan – I was so looking forward to participating in this, but with a youth lock-in this weekend I just didn’t get around to it 🙁 When I got online to take a look at it today, you set a deadline of yesterday! If you do it again, I most def will be in … and might go ahead and play anyway, even though I can’t win the contest!

No worries Crystal! I’m going to try doing this on a regular basis for a little while. Watch for a new one coming at the end of this week…
