i will not leave you orphaned

i will not leave you orphaned

I will not leave you orphaned; I am coming to you. ~John 14:18 It's a promise Jesus makes before he ascends to heaven. We will never be orphaned. He is coming to us. We will never be alone. To many, orphaned is a foreign word. We may hear it often but we don't really...

the greater gift

the greater gift

I wander conference halls in a blissful daze, happy just to share elbow space with some of the premier Christian woman leaders of my generation. With every beat of my heart, I sense confirmation that I belong here. Four years of anticipation have served well to...

creative matters [an ebook by @createcoll]

I get into my car and drive to work. During the short commute that starts each day I'm blasted with dozens of signs and messages telling me what to do or think. Eventually they all simply become noise, blending in with each other so that not a single one is noticeable...

Read Matthew 14:13-21 Working in the church I have seen and interacted with people living in complete poverty. Over the years I have given a family a basket of food from the food pantry when they come knocking on the church door at 4:45 on a Friday afternoon and I...

The Story That
Changed Everything

It's a beautiful day to be outside and working in the yard.

Trimmed back some palm trees, resetting the flower beds, and watching the birds nesting.

And some of the bromiliads under one of my oak trees are in full bloom! 😍

It can be exhausting maintaining this yard, but there is so much beauty to behold.

And I can feel the rhythms of God's Creation in this place.

I wish I was a better gardener, and that it had more time (and money) to invest in it. Maybe some day.

Regardless, I'm grateful for what I have. And I'll always appreciate the opportunity to experience God in this sacred place.

A Message From Dan

What does it look like to live a Christian life? Like, TRULY live a Christian life? If I’m honest, I’m over the fake front of being a happy, blessed, and perfect person in order to impress others. Truth is, I’m a sinner who’s just trying to figure out how to do this without looking like an absolute fool. I think the Christian life is about admitting our brokenness, while raising our hand to say,”Here I am Lord! What would You have me do?” And that’s what this blog is all about… just a dude trying to do the best I can, and maybe hoping that you’re stumbling through the same journey. Maybe we can walk together.
