what it means to leave a legacy (reflections from #AfricaWH day three)
I've thought a lot today about legacy. We went to a service this morning in Kampala at a church plant started by some pretty special people. These young men and women were all former Children of the World choir members. Each of them participated in the World Help...
if we don’t, then who will? (reflections from #AfricaWH day one)
I think I came in to our agenda for today expecting a huge God-moment. You know the kind I'm talking about. That moment when it feels like the entire revelation of God's will for the whole world just pours out on you. It's that moment you end up pointing back to later...
the ultimate guide to social media for small groups (updated for 2018)
I've worked a lot lately with my church's Small Groups Ministry team. And DUDE... it's been really exciting to dig deep into a ministry that is so close to the heart of our church. Our church believes that we grow bigger by growing smaller. We recognize that it's in...
i’m not going to tell you another sob story
The blogosphere doesn't need another "fly in the eye" story about how bad it is for orphaned children in third-world countries. I don't know about you, but these stories just beat me down, leaving me with a bad case of compassion fatigue. And honestly, when I pack my...

Had a great time this afternoon with the #EYCmountdora youth and others from around the @cfdiocese at @greatscottfarms for the Fall Festival and corn maze!
Sometimes it`s good to just get out in the fresh air on an awesome (Florida) Fall day and just have some fun.

"Avoid wrangling over words…" — Paul`s advice to Timothy sounds like it was written for social media in 2025. 📱
He reminds us that endless arguing does no good but only ruins those who are listening.
The call is clear: handle truth with integrity, not hostility.
Because our world doesn`t need more noise — it needs clarity, rooted in Christ. 🙏

Another Blessing of the Stage is in the books! 🙏
This is a really cool event that I get to help run a couple times per year at Mount Dora High School before their big productions.
I feed them chicken nuggies, then we grab candles and gather on the stage.
I shared with them the words of Saint Paul as he writes about how we are different members of one body. It`s this kind of community perspective that makes what they do special. When every member plays their part, it creates something magical!
Then I prayed a prayer for a theater performance with them, something that`s becoming a big part of this tradition.
And then the special part happened as they spoke words of truth and gratitude and blessing over one another as they sprinkled water all around the stage area and each other.
In the end, water everywhere (as if we baptized the stage)... everyone left with full heart and a reminder that they are all important parts of something much bigger than themselves.
These youth inspire me so much, and I`ll continue be there for them and pray for them as they perform and discover who they were created to be.
Amen.

God`s grace isn`t stopped by exile, hardship, or division. 🌿
It goes before us into the hard places… and follows after to redeem what we offer in faith.
"No exile, no prison, no cultural storm can ever chain the Word of God or silence His grace." 🙌

I`ve heard that early Christians sometimes used the bee as an emblem of Christ, with the sweetness of honey representing forgiveness and the sting representing justice.
The hive also represents the Church as a community working together for the common good, with every member having a purpose.
And I love seeing these guys flying around the flowers in my backyard!

Babylon. Rome. Two very different worlds — one story.
God`s purposes aren`t defeated by exile, hardship, or loss of influence.
You`re not an exile of circumstance. You`re an image-bearer of a loving God, called to mirror His faithfulness even in hard places. 🌿
Watch this reminder that faithfulness isn`t about reclaiming power — it`s about embodying grace.

A Message From Dan
What does it look like to live a Christian life? Like, TRULY live a Christian life? If I’m honest, I’m over the fake front of being a happy, blessed, and perfect person in order to impress others. Truth is, I’m a sinner who’s just trying to figure out how to do this without looking like an absolute fool. I think the Christian life is about admitting our brokenness, while raising our hand to say,”Here I am Lord! What would You have me do?” And that’s what this blog is all about… just a dude trying to do the best I can, and maybe hoping that you’re stumbling through the same journey. Maybe we can walk together.
Rev. Dan King
speaker. author. blogger.
