the real soul surfer [an interview with rich peluso]

If you haven't had a chance to check out the movie Soul Surfer at your local theater, you should definitely check it out. It's a movie based on the true story of Bethany Hamilton, who lost her left arm in a shark attack and, against all odds, became a professional...

god’s gift of freedom

god’s gift of freedom

Read: Luke 12:13-21 There are more times than I would like to admit where I feel guilty about my faith.  These are the times when I don't pray enough, read the Bible enough or share my faith with others as I think I should. I begin to wonder what God thinks about this...

[god in the yard] sky: gratitude

[god in the yard] sky: gratitude

[serialposts] When I was young I talked to the night sky.  I’d sit on a chaise lounge in the backyard or lie on the pool deck and stare at the stars—or what I could see of them from my suburban homestead. I did most of the talking and never let the sky—my tangible...

paper or plastic? [the grocery store ministry]

My husband Rich and I exchanged apprehensive glances as we stood in line at the grocery store checkstand. Behind us, a man flung his order onto the conveyer belt: two rotisserie chickens, a basket of strawberries, a loaf of French bread, a large bottle of cheap wine....

The Story That
Changed Everything

It's a beautiful day to be outside and working in the yard.

Trimmed back some palm trees, resetting the flower beds, and watching the birds nesting.

And some of the bromiliads under one of my oak trees are in full bloom! 😍

It can be exhausting maintaining this yard, but there is so much beauty to behold.

And I can feel the rhythms of God's Creation in this place.

I wish I was a better gardener, and that it had more time (and money) to invest in it. Maybe some day.

Regardless, I'm grateful for what I have. And I'll always appreciate the opportunity to experience God in this sacred place.

A Message From Dan

What does it look like to live a Christian life? Like, TRULY live a Christian life? If I’m honest, I’m over the fake front of being a happy, blessed, and perfect person in order to impress others. Truth is, I’m a sinner who’s just trying to figure out how to do this without looking like an absolute fool. I think the Christian life is about admitting our brokenness, while raising our hand to say,”Here I am Lord! What would You have me do?” And that’s what this blog is all about… just a dude trying to do the best I can, and maybe hoping that you’re stumbling through the same journey. Maybe we can walk together.
