[god in the yard] look: contemplation

[god in the yard] look: contemplation

[serialposts] Contemplation We have been invited. We have been given the rules. We are now asked to contemplate. Such a loaded word. So much baggage has been packed on those few letters throughout the years. But it is the one I consider as I walk down past three...

i am love [thoughts on the #freetolive tour]

I can't stand your religious meetings. I'm fed up with your conferences and conventions. I want nothing to do with your religious projects, your pretentious slogans and goals. I'm sick of your fund-raising schemes, your public relations and image making. I've had all...

[god in the yard] rules: the way

[serialposts] Welcome to the world, he says, when I carefully part the branches for him to see. There are only three and so we know. One of the hatchlings did not make it. But this somber knowledge gives way to joy as the babies detect our presence and, mistaking us...

My hands pressed against my face and I stared at my bathroom wall. Most of my intimate conversations with God happen here. Yes, it’s unorthodox. I hope it’s not disrespectful. My thoughts run amuck, but one thought blazes through the rest: What’s going on? Maybe it’s...

The Story That
Changed Everything

It's a beautiful day to be outside and working in the yard.

Trimmed back some palm trees, resetting the flower beds, and watching the birds nesting.

And some of the bromiliads under one of my oak trees are in full bloom! 😍

It can be exhausting maintaining this yard, but there is so much beauty to behold.

And I can feel the rhythms of God's Creation in this place.

I wish I was a better gardener, and that it had more time (and money) to invest in it. Maybe some day.

Regardless, I'm grateful for what I have. And I'll always appreciate the opportunity to experience God in this sacred place.

A Message From Dan

What does it look like to live a Christian life? Like, TRULY live a Christian life? If I’m honest, I’m over the fake front of being a happy, blessed, and perfect person in order to impress others. Truth is, I’m a sinner who’s just trying to figure out how to do this without looking like an absolute fool. I think the Christian life is about admitting our brokenness, while raising our hand to say,”Here I am Lord! What would You have me do?” And that’s what this blog is all about… just a dude trying to do the best I can, and maybe hoping that you’re stumbling through the same journey. Maybe we can walk together.
