power of the Blood

power of the Blood

On Monday, we take communion around our worn dining table after missing it on Sunday, share the hand blown goblet from Mexico filled with grape juice poured from small boxes. "This is His blood shed for you," my husband says, and the five of us remember the drink that...

logos and the baker leadership collection

A while back, Dan King shot me a brief e-mail asking if I’d be interested in reviewing some books for the Logos Bible Software folks.  As a long-time user of Logos, I jumped at the opportunity! Here’s the lowdown on Logos: I haven’t found better Bible study tools.  As...

Lillee bounces down the aisle and slides into the pew like she comes to this church with us every week. She pulls a hymn book out of the rack. When time comes for the children’s sermon, she beats everyone to the platform steps and takes a seat next to Miss Jeannie,...

Photo by Kelli Campbell I live in a landscape made for ghost stories. The weeping willow tree has turned the color of a copper penny. When fog curls around the trunk, I half believe the headless horseman will pass by. Perhaps the bright sunshine of summer washes out...

The Story That
Changed Everything

Through it all, we're not alone. And that fact can carry us through a mountain of pain and worry and stress.

Today in some teaching on the liturgy, one of the things that stood out is how much of it focuses on the "we" and not the "I." And there's great peace and comfort in the "we."

We not only have God to walk through our trials with us, but we also have each other.

I've recently been asked to speak at an event on the topic of my latest book, and it looks like there are more coming!

And it's wild how many times something comes up in conversation about people and the state of our society right now that triggers in my mind... "I wrote about that in Holy Rhythms."

This feels like one of the most broadly relevant projects that I've put together in a while.

It's a short read, but there's a lot of good stuff packed in these pages.

If you haven't read it yet, head over to Amazon and search for it with "holy rhythms for hurting hearts," and get your copy today!

My 20+ year journey to ordination is becoming a book!

Through all of the ups and downs, and all the times I almost walked away completely from the Call, there's stuff in there that I'm certain will encourage and help others who are discerning direction... ordained or lay ministry.

The Outline is all mapped out, chapter 1 is already done, and I haven't been this excited about a writing project in a LONG time!

A Message From Dan

What does it look like to live a Christian life? Like, TRULY live a Christian life? If I’m honest, I’m over the fake front of being a happy, blessed, and perfect person in order to impress others. Truth is, I’m a sinner who’s just trying to figure out how to do this without looking like an absolute fool. I think the Christian life is about admitting our brokenness, while raising our hand to say,”Here I am Lord! What would You have me do?” And that’s what this blog is all about… just a dude trying to do the best I can, and maybe hoping that you’re stumbling through the same journey. Maybe we can walk together.
