written on their hearts: a sermon on a reading from jeremiah 31
the reading Jeremiah 31:31-34 The days are surely coming, says the Lord, when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and the house of Judah. It will not be like the covenant that I made with their ancestors when I took them by the hand to bring them out...

The time around, and shortly after, the Council of Nicaea in 325 was a wild time for Christianity. The Roman Emperor Constantine legalized Christianity in 313 through the Edict of Milan, and eventually made it the official state religion of the Roman Empire. Finally,...
take up your cross: a sermon on a reading from mark 8
the reading Mark 8:31-38 Jesus began to teach his disciples that the Son of Man must undergo great suffering, and be rejected by the elders, the chief priests, and the scribes, and be killed, and after three days rise again. He said all this quite openly. And Peter...
astounded and amazed: a sermon on a reading from mark 1
The Reading Mark 1:21-28 Jesus and his disciples went to Capernaum; and when the sabbath came, he entered the synagogue and taught. They were astounded at his teaching, for he taught them as one having authority, and not as the scribes. Just then there was in their...

Had a great time tonight talking about "Holy Rhythms for Hurting Hearts" tonight!
I was amazed at level of interest in the topics discussed in my little book of essays on mental health and ancient church practices. It seems like all of us relate to the struggle and are looking for peace.
And it appears that this book is a really great one for Lent... if you`re looking for a good read...

Just a little preview into my sermon tomorrow at @stedwardsepiscopal (8am and 10am).
This line just keeps hanging there in my heart.
Can`t wait to preach it!

Had a great time with our #EYCmountdora youth group tonight at our Shrove Tuesday Pancake Dinner!
Our youth serve so well, and I love how our church community supports them.
This has become one of my favorite ways to mark the shift into the season of Lent.

It`s just one of those top-open kind of days on the way home from church today.
Sun shining.
Cool temps.
Radio on full blast.

By the end of the Blessing of the Stage, the floor is always covered in water - baptizing the space where these students will spend the next week telling stories.
Today we talked about truth-telling as sacred work. About how theater, at its best, reveals what`s real about being human. About how every role matters - on stage and backstage.
Grateful to be part of this tradition with Mount Dora High School`s Tempest Theater.

This might just be my new profile pic! LOL!
I made this as part of a white elephant gift for our youth group Christmas party, and I`m still laughing!
BTW... it looks amazing in a frame... I have a feeling we might see it hanging in our youth house at the church. 🤣

Yep, so my neighbor across the street went with the 6-7 decoration... 🫤

I`m working on a brand new Bible study called "I Will, With God`s Help", and I`d love your help shaping it.
This study takes a deep dive into what it really means to be a Christian, exploring who God is and how our faith becomes a lived way of life. Week 1 is ready, and before I move forward, I`d love honest feedback from people across different backgrounds and denominations.
I`m using a tool called Help This Book, where you can read the draft of Week 1 and leave comments, questions, or suggestions right inside the document. Your input will help me refine the study and make it as meaningful and accessible as possible.

Thanks in advance to anyone who jumps in to help. Your perspective will make this project so much stronger.
@ bibledude . Nov 10
November 10th is a special day for me, and this year is a good one.
Today is the one year anniversary for my ordination to the Sacred Order of Deacons, and it`s the 250th birthday of the US Marine Corps.
As I write this, I realize how much both of those things have in common... both marked by the unparalleled heart to serve.
Today, I take pride in the fact that I`m part of both of these two great callings, and I`m honored and grateful to have the opportunity to serve in these ways.
Semper Fidelis.
Once a Marine, always a Marine.
Once a Deacon, always a Deacon.

A Message From Dan
What does it look like to live a Christian life? Like, TRULY live a Christian life? If I’m honest, I’m over the fake front of being a happy, blessed, and perfect person in order to impress others. Truth is, I’m a sinner who’s just trying to figure out how to do this without looking like an absolute fool. I think the Christian life is about admitting our brokenness, while raising our hand to say,”Here I am Lord! What would You have me do?” And that’s what this blog is all about… just a dude trying to do the best I can, and maybe hoping that you’re stumbling through the same journey. Maybe we can walk together.
Rev. Dan King
