[god in the yard] with: submission

[god in the yard] with: submission

[serialposts] I hate the word “submission.”   I do not want to submit to anyone, preferring to run full-force into the dark, rather than listen, rather than abide, rather than be controlled.  Perhaps this is why I have not yet married; I am afraid that submissive wife...

the character He’s forming [courageous in calling]

What on earth am I doing on earth? Why am I here? What's the meaning of life? A lot of people have taken the easy route in finding the answers to these questions, and found at the end of the route that there actually exist no answers. I remember asking a friend whom I...

[god in the yard] me: self care

[god in the yard] me: self care

[serialposts] The scream of the coffee grinder startles me and I'm finally awake. "Good Lord, it's morning." I whisper coarsely, and I wonder how I got into the kitchen. I smell the freshly ground beans, and I briefly wonder what they'd taste like if I'd pour milk...

who attends your church?

who attends your church?

In a recent conversation with a friend I heard of a man who was asked to leave a local church because he was a cross-dresser and was unwilling to change his clothes when he came to church. Obviously each situation in a local church is different and should be handled...

The Story That
Changed Everything

It's a beautiful day to be outside and working in the yard.

Trimmed back some palm trees, resetting the flower beds, and watching the birds nesting.

And some of the bromiliads under one of my oak trees are in full bloom! 😍

It can be exhausting maintaining this yard, but there is so much beauty to behold.

And I can feel the rhythms of God's Creation in this place.

I wish I was a better gardener, and that it had more time (and money) to invest in it. Maybe some day.

Regardless, I'm grateful for what I have. And I'll always appreciate the opportunity to experience God in this sacred place.

A Message From Dan

What does it look like to live a Christian life? Like, TRULY live a Christian life? If I’m honest, I’m over the fake front of being a happy, blessed, and perfect person in order to impress others. Truth is, I’m a sinner who’s just trying to figure out how to do this without looking like an absolute fool. I think the Christian life is about admitting our brokenness, while raising our hand to say,”Here I am Lord! What would You have me do?” And that’s what this blog is all about… just a dude trying to do the best I can, and maybe hoping that you’re stumbling through the same journey. Maybe we can walk together.
